Service robots boost productivity, efficiency across industries in China

From hospitality to healthcare to electronics repairs, Chinese industries are improving productivity and efficiency with the help of service robots. At an electronics repair shop in the southern city of Guangzhou, a fleet of service robots shuttle around the office delivering materials and components to personnel. With a click of a mouse, parts and tools in an intelligent vending machine are dispensed directly onto a waiting robot which brings the items to a repair specialist. Elsewhere in the country, service robots are also helping hospitals with drug delivery, disinfection, and medical waste disposal. The CEO of one service robot manufacturer says drug delivery robots, in particular, represent a safer and more efficient way to work that allows medical staff to concentrate on caring for patients. China's service robot output topped 7 million units in 2023 with the domestic market valued at more than 9 billion U.S. dollars.
